Before we begin, I will pause for emergency and priority traffic. If you have emergency or priority traffic, please call now. (15 sec. pause) (BREAK) (CALLSIGN) (let repeaters drop) This is CALLSIGN - Midwest ### and I will be the net control operator for this evening. This is a directed net. Any and all communications on this repeater during a directed net must be cleared by the net control operator. The MidWest Severe Storm Tracking Response Center (MidWest SSTRC Inc.) is comprised of members whos primary purpose is to assist in providing early detection of severe weather. We communicate this critical information to government officials, other recognized agencies and organizations including the National Weather Service allowing for timely public severe weather warnings and providing emergency responses as appropriate. MidWest SSTRC Inc. endeavors to assist in any way it can in the protection of life and property from any threat, be it natural or man made. (BREAK) (CALLSIGN)(let repeaters drop) During a severe weather event, when a MidWest net is active, the net control operators will only take reports from amateur radio operators that have successfully completed at least the Basic Spotter training as outlined by MidWest SSTRC Inc., a similar recongnized training coarse within the past two years or have demonstrated their abilities during this last calander year. (BREAK) (CALLSIGN)(let repeaters drop) We will now start the radio checkin portion of tonight's net. You need not be a member of MidWest SSTRC to participate in tonight check in. To properly check in, listen for net control to indicate the first letter in your call sign. Then respond with your MidWest number followed by the words check in. If you do not have a MidWest number use your call sign instead. Then unkey and net control will give you the go ahead to proceed with your check in. Make sure to end your report with you call sign. Do not proceed with your check in until net control clears with the current station and asks for the next station to check in. (BREAK) (CALLSIGN)(let repeaters drop) Stations checking in must use the TLCS format. This is the same protocol that spotters must use when submiting a report to the MidWest Net Control Operator during severe weather events. T stand for Time - This is the time that your check in started in 12 hour format or the time the weather event occured. L stands for Location - Where you are transmitting from right now using the NWS reference points and including the county. C stands for Condition - The current weather conditions at your location. S Stands for Source - Give you call sign at the end of your check in. If you have traffic for tonight net, indicate so at the end of your check in. (BREAK) (CALLSIGN)(let repeaters drop) Traffic for the net will be handled at the end of the MidWest check in. Net control will call upon participants that do have traffic for the net in the order they were received during the check in process. Remember, one station at a time and allow time for the net control operator to record the information and ask for the next check in.
